We are based in Hilperton, near Trowbridge, Wiltshire, and meet every Tuesday morning in St Mary's Church, Horse Road, Hilperton, from approximately 9.30 a.m. until 12.30 a.m.
All our artists are complete amateurs who enjoy getting together to explore artistic ideas and create a variety of highly unique artwork.

ST MARY'S ART GROUP SUMMER EXHIBITION 2025.....
....will be even bigger and better than previously! We now have 17 wonderful artists in our art group. The styles of work on show are so varied, so colourful and so individual it promises to be a really fantastic weekend!
If you haven't visited beforehand please do come this year. Our art sells at wonderful prices for the quality of the work - and, apart from some framed
prints, every piece is original and therefore unique.
There are unframed originals, prints of all sizes and some fabulous cards - all at very affordable prices. In fact, we pride ourselves on being far more affordable than the majority of affordable art!
We also bake and sell our own cakes which, visitors tell us, are delicious (especially Lindy's Carrot Cake which is quite simply sensational!).
Look out for our upcoming posts on Facebook and Instagram showing photographs of paintings that will be available at this event. But hurry as, with originals, once they are gone, they are GONE!

Tip Toe Through The... Snowdrops.
Seven degrees. The warmest & driest day for weeks. How lucky were we to chose this Wednesday to visit the magnificent snowdrops at Welford Park, in Berkshire. A quick cup of coffee, an obligatory piece of fruit cake, and off we went, cameras and sketch books in hand, to try to capture something of these wonders at Welford Park.
Welford Park, if you don't already know, was the original home of the Great British Bake-Off but, fortunately for us, snowdrops come earlier in the year than Bake-Off contenders and their wonderful creations. (Bake-Off is returning to Welford this May). Snowdrop time, in February and March, sees hundreds of people following the carefully laid out bark pathways through the grounds and woodland around the 5 acre beechwood, enchanting River Lambourne riverbanks and the gardens of Welford Park to 'ooh' & 'ahh' at the glorious sights of one of the UK's finest snowdrop collections. Not just snowdrops but hellebores, aconites and primroses are in abundance. We walked, we sat & chatted, we took masses of photographs, but did we sketch? Well no, but I promise you will see something of our artistic endeavours in the coming weeks. As Wallace & Gromit might say, 'A Grand Day Out'!

OUR STORY....
St Mary's Art Group initially started in 2000 in St Mary's Church, Hilperton, and meetings are still held in the same place every Tuesday morning. A few years previous to this a few people had joined a local art class for Absolute Beginners (Drawing and Painting) with local artist Sue Burns as their tutor. Two years after this Sue Burns decided her students were competent enough to move on and so St Mary's Art Group was formed.
Although people have come and gone the group remains committed and simply enjoys meeting up to create, exchange ideas, improve techniques and express our individual interpretations of everyday living using a wide variety of styles.
